Overview Quioccasin Veterinary Hospital is looking for a full-time Licensed Veterinary Technician to join our team!

Location: 9218 Quioccasin Rd, Richmond, VA 23229

Wage: Open to negotiate a competitive wage

We are a growing, 5-doctor, AAHA-accredited small animal hospital located in the heart of Richmond, VA. We primarily care for dogs and cats—with the occasional pocket pet—and are passionate about delivering high-quality, compassionate veterinary care.

Clinic Hours

Monday - Friday:

8:00 AM - 6:00 PM

Saturday:

8:00 AM - 12:00 PM Team members must be available to work rotating Saturdays.

Shift Details

Flexible weekday scheduling

Saturday rotation required

What We're Looking For

Anesthetic monitoring

Proficiency to place an IV catheter

Ability to calculate anesthesia

Ability to calculate CRI's

Proficiency in taking digital dental radiographs

Responsibilities

Major Duties:

Our Veterinary Technicians are responsible for in-patient medical care- administer medications, assist or perform treatments, diagnostics & monitoring, place IV catheters, draw blood, run lab tests, administer IV fluids, cleaning, feeding, and walking patients as needed.

Anesthesia/Surgery - prep, induction, maintenance, monitoring, recovery of patients, cleans/maintains/sterilize anesthesia equipment and surgical instruments.

Dentistry- provide patient dental care, ultrasonic cleaning and polishing, assist doctor with dental surgery.

Radiology - position patients and assist with radiographs, sending radiographs via email.

Laboratory duties- collect, prepare, & run or submit samples for requested tests; reading and recording results when indicated (fecals, Urines, Ear cytology etc) when requested by doctor.

Preparing invoices, discharge instructions, and client informational tools

Client communication for hospitalized patients - give patient updates, discharge instructions, and provide follow up for certain hospital patients.

Client medical demonstrations / education - teach/educate clients on at home care procedures.

Veterinary Technician appointments- blood draws for therapeutic monitoring / screening tests, bandage changes, post-op checks, suture removals, AG, TNT.

Clinic technician- assist doctor with outpatient appointments, prepare, restock, clean exam room, check patients in and out, take history and vitals, input data into patient medical record, ensure smooth flow of outpatient appointments from check-in to discharge.

Assist with reception/front desk duties as needed- answering phones, booking appointments, admit/discharge patients.

Assist in training and mentoring new team members.

Assist with inventory control - inform inventory manager when products are getting low/out, unpacking, restocking drug & medical supplies.

Preparing prescriptions - dispensed medications & medication refills.

Qualifications

Licensed Veterinary Technician (or eligible for license)

Experience with anesthesia monitoring and veterinary nursing procedures is preferred

Excellent communication and client education skills

Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital and collaborate with a team
