L3Harris is seeking a
Composite Manufacturing Technician
to work at our state-of-the-art Advanced Manufacturing Facility (AMF) in Huntsville, AL, which will be our inert manufacturing facility for fabrication and assembly of composite rocket motor hardware. Essential Functions: Produce parts, components, and final assemblies using composite fabrication, compression molding, metal fabrication, modification, checkout, re-work, quality testing, and assembly utilizing detailed work instructions, schematics, diagrams, layouts, or manufacturing test development or diagnostic equipment. Prepare various components for lay-up, filament winding, cure, and post-cure using cured and uncured rubber materials and adhesives. Operate various machinery and shop equipment including filament winders, ovens, autoclaves, manual and CNC lathes, mills, presses, furnaces, and automated welding equipment. Fabricate and assemble piece parts into completed sub-assemblies using assembly tools. Perform vacuum bagging and related processes for fabrication and curing of composite parts. Complete structural bonding operations using film adhesives, core materials, and adhesives. Build complex layups individually and in small groups. Insulate mandrels and composite cases. Filament wind composite structures. Cast, cure, and machine sand mandrels. Facilitate and conduct on-the-job training for technicians as required. Troubleshoot processes, identify, modify, and escalate out-of-control processes and production escapes. Work additional shifts as needed. Coordinate with maintenance, supervision, and engineers for equipment setup and calibration. Participate in preventative maintenance activities. Clean machines, equipment, and work area according to Standard Operating Procedures.
