Nonexempt Full-time Responsibilities
Works as directed by the immediate supervisor and/or the Director of Landscape & Grounds. Works as a team in maintaining the landscape in an effort to enhance the beauty of ACU. Assists other trades and grounds personnel as needed in spirit of cooperation and team work. Continuously develops and cross-trains to keep personnel up-to-date and safe. Follows established rules, policies, and procedures of the Landscape & Grounds Department and ACU. Orders materials and supplies as needed for completion of work orders. Fills out work orders and written reports daily. Displays initiative to work alone or in groups. Maintains flower beds, ground cover, interior plants, and other areas associated with ACU landscape to the University\'s standard. Assists Landscape Manager with installation of new landscapes & seasonal color as needed. Maintains beds and flowering landscape area to enhance the beauty of the campus. Empties trash in the area daily or as needed. Keeps hardscapes clean and free of debris. Displays initiative to work by one\'s self or in groups. Be on call 24 hours for inclement weather events and be able to come in early to spread ice melt. Helps maintain an aggressive fertilizer program that will enhance the beauty of the campus. Cleans up and removes trash on campus. Understands basic irrigation operations. Attends ACU approved, work related training sessions. Maintains equipment to extend its life and maintains university resources. Performs work in a safe manner. Qualifications
Professional High school diploma or GED and five (5) years of hands-on experience with landscape, grass & interior plant materials Or associate degree in horticulture Personal Honest, trustworthy, dependable, responsible, punctual and have a good moral character and work ethic. Must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check. Possession of a valid Texas driver’s license is a requirement for this job. Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check. Physical Demands
Good health and stamina to lift, carry, and pull loads in excess of fifty (50) pounds. Must be able to climb a ladder. Must be able to work in extreme heat/cold weather conditions. Additional Information
