Overview
Staking Engineer/Distribution Design Technician
at Powder River Energy Corp. (PRECorp) is a member-owned electric cooperative serving five counties in northeast Wyoming with residential and commercial electric service. PRECorp is accepting applications for a Staking Engineer/Distribution Design Technician position. The desired location would be in our Gillette office location. The Distribution Design Technician (DDT) will assist and/or lead in the design and staking of single and three phase distribution power lines, preparation of staking sheets, acquisition of right-of-way easements and cost estimates, mapping, and auditing of existing lines. Additionally, the DDT will assist with PRECorp’s maintenance program by completing pole inspections and line patrol as assigned, which includes completing retirement staking sheets and line modifications associated with PRECorp avian protection plan. Responsibilities
Assist and/or lead the design and staking of single- and three-phase distribution power lines. Prepare staking sheets, acquire right-of-way easements, develop cost estimates, perform mapping, and audit existing lines. Support PRECorp’s maintenance program by completing pole inspections and line patrols; prepare retirement staking sheets and line modifications related to the avian protection plan. Qualifications
High School Diploma required, with solid skills in mathematics (algebra, geometry, trigonometry). Survey Technician Associate degree with distribution power line design experience, or equivalent previous survey experience and RUS design of distribution line is preferred. Knowledge of staking principles and skill in using surveying equipment is highly desirable. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Teams) required. NISC Software (Mapwise, CIS, iVUE AppSuite) desired. Valid driver’s license required; ability to operate UTVs (side-by-sides) in off-road conditions. Application Process
