Building Inspector I: $25.44 - $30.92 /hr. Building Inspector II: $28.10 - $34.16 /hr. Senior Building Inspector: $31.05 - $37.74 /hr. Tuolumne County Community Development is seeking a Building Inspector to perform field inspections on residential, commercial, and related buildings and structures in Tuolumne County, California. Tuolumne County is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, approximately two hours east of the Bay Area. This entry-level classification learns and performs a variety of professional office and field work related to the inspection, application, and enforcement of building codes. Initially under close supervision, incumbents gain experience and perform with increasing independence. Positions at this level generally perform most of the duties of the II level but are not expected to reach the same skill level or exercise the same independent discretion and judgment in work procedures and methods. Building Inspector II:

This journey-level classification performs the full scope of duties under direction. Typically advanced from the I level, or hired with prior inspection experience. Receives only occasional instruction or assistance in new or unusual situations and is fully aware of operating procedures and policies. This class is distinguished from Senior Building Inspector by the latter having supervision of lower-level staff and handling the most complex duties in the division. Senior Building Inspector:

This advanced journey-level class performs the full range of duties related to plan review and a variety of inspections. Responsibilities include reviewing plans, conducting inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial sites, enforcing codes and ordinances, ensuring conformance with approved plans, specifications, standards, permits, and licensing, and providing technical direction to lower-level staff. This class is distinguished from Chief Building Official, who has management responsibility for all plans examination, building inspections, permitting, code enforcement, and related programs, functions, and activities. Completion of an accredited technical school or college-level program in building inspection, plan review, or a closely related field is preferred. Experience requirements Building Inspector I:

One (1) year of experience in the building and/or construction trades. Completion of 30 college units in construction or inspection technologies may substitute for experience. Building Inspector II:

Three (3) years of increasingly responsible experience in the building and/or construction trades, or two (2) years of experience as a Building Inspector I in Tuolumne County. Senior Building Inspector:

Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in the building and/or construction trades, including at least one (1) year in a lead capacity, or two (2) years of experience as a Building Inspector II in Tuolumne County. Completion of an accredited technical school or college-level program is desirable. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES Possession of a California driver's license and a satisfactory driving record. Building Inspector I:

Possession of at least one building inspection certificate issued by ICC, IAPMO, or NIC, within one year of appointment. Building Inspector II:

Possession of at least two building inspection certificates issued by ICC, IAPMO, or NIC. Senior Building Inspector:

Possession of at least three building inspection certificates issued by ICC, or possession of an ICC Combination Inspection certificate.
