Overview Younker 5 is a 22 bed Renal, Transplant, and Urology unit specializing in medical surgical patients. We have the only transplant center in Central Iowa and take pride in caring for this specific patient population. You will have the opportunity to become transplant certified after 12 months of hire if you wish through the American Board of Transplant Certification. Our hard-working team is thoroughly committed to offering a multidisciplinary approach to patient centered care involving achievement on best patient outcomes and safe discharge plans.

Responsibilities The Unit supervisor: Provides leadership as part of unit management team. Coordinates unit management activities in conjunction with manager/director. Facilitates unit staff development in collaboration with manager/director. Carries out the day-to-day operation plan of the unit under the direction of the manager/director. Serves as a resource to other health team members on the assigned unit. Works collaboratively with other departments to facilitate cost effective health care. The patients to be served may include: infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Assumes patient care assignment based on unit needs.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree in nursing; must be willing to obtain a BSN within 3 years.
Current Iowa Registered Nurse (RN) license.
Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification.
Valid driver’s license for work-related travel.
Minimum of one year experience as a Registered Nurse.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with individuals from diverse professional, educational, and lifestyle backgrounds.
Proficiency in basic computer skills.
Other
Familiarity with and use of standard equipment required to perform essential job functions.
Highly Preferred
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Experience in a relevant specialty area.
