Overview
Cardiac Sonographer role at Sanford Health. Location: Sioux Falls, SD. Full-time position; 40 hours per week; shift varies. Job Summary
Performs echocardiography tests/procedures in accordance with the American Society of Echocardiography standards. Prepares patients for exams, applies gel, positions patients, and operates ultrasound equipment to produce and record images of cardiac structures. Completes the echocardiogram and provides a preliminary summary of findings to the interpreting physician for medical diagnosis. Utilizes the ultrasound machine and new sonographic technologies as needed. Performs routine cardiac ultrasound procedures in clinic, hospital, and mobile sites. Interacts professionally with health care professionals. Assists in submission and/or maintenance of Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) accreditation when necessary. Supervises or trains students and cardiac sonographers as needed. Adheres to Sanford safety, infection control, and internal standards; maintains HIPAA-compliant practices. Depending on facility, may expand job responsibilities to include ultrasonography. Responsibilities

Adhere to safety, infection control, and privacy standards. Qualifications
State-specific requirements vary. General expectations include: South Dakota: Graduate from an accredited two-year Cardiac Ultrasound Program required. North Dakota: Graduate from an accredited cardiac sonography program or one year of related work experience; allied health certificate/diploma may be considered for on-the-job training. Minnesota: Graduate from an accredited two-year Cardiac Ultrasound Program or a bachelor’s degree with one year of related work experience. All other states: Minimum one year related work experience or allied health certificate/diploma required. ARDMS/CCI or registry eligibility within 12 months in SD; ARRT/ARDMS/CCI or registry eligibility within 18 months in other states. Leadership may adjust timelines. ND licensure required if performing medical imaging/radiation therapy procedures. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and ongoing recertification as needed. Benefits
