$120,000.00 - $190,000.00 per year
Responsibilities Serve as an independent care provider in collaboration with medical/surgical staff.
Conduct comprehensive health assessments and manage patients with acute and/or chronic health problems.
Obtain patient histories and perform physical examinations.
Write admitting orders, routine orders and daily progress notes as indicated.
Assess and manage common health problems; order and evaluate pertinent diagnostic tests (e.g., radiology, laboratories, ECGs).
Prescribe pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments as appropriate.
Educate patients and/or families regarding disease processes, medical interventions and health promotion; document patient teaching.
Refer and communicate pertinent abnormalities to medical director/medical specialists.
Perform clinical procedures and manage invasive drains, lines and catheters; debridement of superficial wounds and arterial blood gases as applicable.
Serve as a resource for nursing and ancillary staff in patient and disease management.
Facilitate compliance with PRO-NJ and JCAHO requirements.
Identify appropriate patients for NP coverage; conduct daily rounds; discuss plan of care with MDs and multidisciplinary team.
Evaluate diagnostic tests per NP protocol; communicate pertinent abnormalities to MD.
Complete daily progress notes/discharge sheets in accordance with PRO-NJ requirements.
Monitor and manage health problems occurring during hospitalization per NP protocol; participate in care planning and rounds.
Educate patients and families; coordinate scheduling of procedures and ancillary studies; supervise heart failure readmission data and related activities.
Precept other Nurse Practitioners; contribute to system meetings and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications, Education, Training, Certification, Licensure Licensed Registered Nurse in New Jersey.
Certified Nurse Practitioner in New Jersey.
Master's degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
ACLS certification.
Work Environment and Demands Hazards include risk of exposure to communicable diseases and risk of physical injury from lifting patients and operating equipment.
Must meet requirements of the ADA.
Work contact with all patient-related hospital departments, patients, families, visitors, nursing personnel and medical staff.
Job-Specific Requirements Identifies appropriate patients for NP coverage; performs daily rounds; discusses plan of care with MDs and multidisciplinary team.
Evaluates pertinent diagnostic tests; communicates with MD regarding abnormalities; ensures PRO-NJ compliance.
Writes orders for pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatments; completes daily progress notes; communicates with collaborating MD promptly.
Assesses and manages health problems during hospitalization; educates patients and families; serves as a resource for staff.
Safely performs clinical procedures and coordinates procedures/ancillary studies; monitors patients during CTA testing; conducts daily triage rounds on unit and in Emergency Department.
Maintains professional development and participates in required ongoing education.
