Job Description Summary The goal of this role is to manage the day-to-day operations of the technical aspects of the laboratory quality system. This individual will coordinate the activities required to meet ISO technical requirements; monitor and advise on how the system is performing; as well as distribute reports regarding performance. They will liaise with other internal Lab Quality and Technical Specialists to ensure compliance.
Responsibilities
Maintain sufficient inventory of laboratory supplies to prevent work delays.
Accurately process samples in a time-efficient manner.
Follow procedures as outlined in laboratory work instructions.
Perform assigned routine laboratory tests under direct supervision.
Prepare media and solutions used within the laboratory.
Enter samples and results into the laboratory data management system.
Be willing to work weekend rotations, as necessary.
Follow company policy and meet established requirements regarding biosecurity, animal welfare, safety, ISO 17025 accreditation, and drugs and alcohol.
Attend during normal working hours or as scheduled by Laboratory Management.
Maintain good laboratory hygiene regarding the workspace, equipment, or tools utilized.
Perform other duties as required by Laboratory Management.
Physical Requirements
Walk/stand for extended periods.
Move safely over/traverse uneven terrain.
Frequently carry/lift objects up to 20lbs.
Perform repetitive tasks requiring hand/wrist dexterity.
Safely pick up materials stored at ground level.
Apply 50 lbs. of force to push carts.
Frequently kneel/squat and perform tasks at floor level or on knees.
Conduct repetitive tasks.
Wear PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, shoes, etc.
Exposure to airborne particles, chemicals, and bodily fluids.
Work inside year-round; some outside work in hot/cold temperatures.
Handle farm samples maintaining sample integrity and awareness of surroundings.
Other Conditions
Handle farm samples while maintaining sample integrity.
Remain cognizant of surroundings, potential contamination, and data collection practices.
Adhere to bio-security protocols, including quarantine periods for contact with non-Hubbard avian species.
Perform tasks involving bending, lifting, kneeling, standing, walking, and contact with live animals.
