Citizenship Requirements:

Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Clearance Requirements:

National Background Check with Inquiries and Fingerprints, and Drug Screen.

Period of Performance:

Time of Award up to five (5) years.

Type of Employment:

Full-time, 40 hours per week.

Estimated Pay:

$31.88 - $36.97 per hour.

Pay Holidays:

Eleven (11) Paid Holidays.

Paid Time Off:

80 hours, occurring on day one.

Sick Leave:

56 hours, occurring on day one.

Working Hours The Radiologic Technologist will typically work from Monday through Thursday from 07:30 am to 4:00 pm with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The Radiologic Technologist will not work more than 40 hours a week. The Health Services Administrator will determine the actual hours of work. Due to the nature of the correctional setting, delays in work performance may occur. Such delays may include, but are not limited to, inclement weather, electrical or mechanical problems, or other security matters.

Qualifications

Be a graduate from an accredited school or program for a Radiological Technologist.

Must be licensed to perform radiological procedures by the American Registry of Radiological Technologists.

A valid certification to practice in the state of Florida as a Radiological Technologist.

Knowledge and use of digital radiological equipment.

A minimum of two (2) years of Radiological Technologist experience.

Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA)

Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable but not required.

Attire The contractors are expected to wear professional clothing while on duty. The attire wornshall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employeeswill be performing.

Duties and Responsibilities

Independently perform all radiographic procedures, i.e., chest, bone, skull, spine, and portable X-rays, etc.

Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by the medical staff for the inmate population at the institution.

Transmit, retrieve X-ray images and report electronically, and scan reports into inmates' Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).

Receive training to retrieve radiographic consultants from BEMR and schedule them to perform all radiographic procedures.

Work with an inmate population from a variety of cultural, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.

Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibrations and repairs.

Possess knowledge of basic emergencies that may occur during special radiographic procedures.

Schedule exams and maintain records.

Possess knowledge of various pathological abnormalities as demonstrated by radiographic imaging.

Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions necessary to obtain a proper quality diagnostic exam.

Receive patients and explain procedures to alleviate undue anxiety.

Notify the Radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities seen while the patient is undergoing an exam, so that additional views or exams can be ordered if needed.

Coordinate transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care.

Work with the Clinical Director to ensure monitoring and evaluation activities are completed.

Act as liaison between radiologist and medical staff.

Receive training and orientation and comply with correctional techniques as they pertain to medical services.

Develop a working knowledge of the local medical protocols.

Wear outer protective clothing and obey the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention universal precautions at all times.

Function in other duties commensurate with a Radiology Technician.

Computerization and printing of the daily log.

Computerization and printing of exam requisitions.

Printing of all folders and exam labels.

Completing all X-ray studies ordered by the medical staff.

Preparing X-rays for shipment to the radiologist for interpretation.

Transport of X-rays to the radiologist for interpretation.

Transport all x-rays from the radiologist after interpretation.

Assisting the staff with the maintenance of equipment and supplies, and notifying staff when supplies are needed.

Conducting quality assurance tests and daily maintenance on X-ray equipment as needed.

Assisting with FDA inspections and preparation for TJC and program review as needed.

Assuring that all X-ray requests are completed properly.

Computerization of patient logs and repeat analysis.
