Cardiac Sonographer - Austin, MN role at Mayo Clinic Responsibilities
Competently performs complete echocardiographic studies integrating all cardiac echo imaging modalities and procedures necessary to obtain all pertinent patient data. Documents patient data and echo exam information completely and accurately utilizing the Echo Information Management System and other necessary computer applications. Functions independently while using critical thinking and problem-solving skills to obtain a comprehensive echocardiogram. Collaborates with Lead Cardiac Sonographers, Advanced Cardiac Sonographers, Echocardiographers, Physicians, and other team members to assist in interpretation of echocardiographic findings. Assists in the orientation, training, and education of all levels of trainees, students, and visitors assigned to Cardiovascular Services. Expectations extend to include stress lab and stress echo lab procedures, outreach, on-call practices, weekends, evenings, and holiday coverage as needed. The Cardiac Sonographer is available for 24-hour call within a 30-minute response time required. Must demonstrate knowledge and skills to provide quality care appropriate to a patient population spanning neonate to geriatric. Demonstrates flexibility in learning all equipment, imaging specialties, and echocardiography procedures. Must understand sterile procedures and isolation precaution techniques and exercise proper precautions to avoid potential exposures to radiation, infectious hazards, and sharp instruments. Must be able to tolerate frequent walking, standing, pushing, and pulling; reach above shoulder level; occasional twisting and turning; and effective communication in verbal and written form. Qualifications
Associates degree or graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited sonography program. One year of cardiac experience preferred and be registry eligible. Minimum of one-year experience in adult and pediatric cardiac sonography including experience with transesophageal and stress echo, preferred. Must have knowledge of cardiac pathophysiology, diagnostic procedures, and patient care procedures. Experience with outreach services helpful. Proven ability to work with co-workers, physicians, and all levels of healthcare professionals. Licensure Or Certification
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS), or registry eligible for RDCS or RCS. Registry eligible employees must obtain RDCS or RCS within one year of hire. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification. Valid Minnesota and/or Wisconsin driver’s license. Compensation
$39.08 - $58.67 / hour. Education, experience and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended. Benefits Eligible
