The PACU Registered Nurse is responsible for providing care to Post Anesthesia Care Unit patients, working with Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, Surgical staff, and other personnel. Responsibilities include utilizing the Nursing Process in accordance with the state Nurse Practice Act, AORN, and hospital policies. The nurse demonstrates critical thinking, scientific judgment, and leadership in planning and delivering safe care, maintaining clinical competencies through continuing education, delegating patient care appropriately, and supervising assigned personnel. Start ASAP Shift:
Days 6AM-3:30PM, end time may extend to 4:30PM Hours:
40 hrs/week, variable call schedule, call from 3:30PM-7:00AM at least once per week, weekend call every 4 weeks. Guaranteed hours are 72 biweekly. No floating or block scheduling Requirements
RN Licensure BLS, ACLS certifications Minimum 2 years of experience Additional details include bed count (23), patient ratio (varies), scrubs color options (black, navy, royal blue), EMR system (Med Host), and skills such as starting IVs, basic admission assessments, familiarity with diabetic patients, and performing discharge teaching, especially in a fast-paced Stage II environment.
