Procare is hiring EMTs for our Dedicated Ambulance Services Programs and Other Shifts. Benefits include predictable transport volume and service area, relationship building with fixed facilities, policy and process consistency, and regularly scheduled partners and ambulances. Procare has provided EMS services since 2005 and is the first private EMS company in Maryland approved by MIEMSS to provide mobile integrated healthcare home responses. Procare has MIH services since April 2020. This position includes caring for, transferring, and transporting patients requiring Basic Life Support care as defined by COMAR and MIEMSS Protocol. The EMT-B is required during the applicable shift to prepare a detailed patient care report documenting all aspects of care, movement, and transport for billing and clinical review. The role involves periods of strenuous physical exertion and may require extended periods of sitting. The EMT-B must be ready, willing, and able to provide professional care and transportation services upon moment\'s notice anytime during the shift. Qualifications for EMT
Must be certified as a Maryland EMT-B and agree to cooperate to obtain DC EMT-B certification upon hire. Current Valid CPR Card. National Certification preferred. Experience in providing care in an inter-facility transport environment preferred. For drivers, a valid Driving License with no points on your driving record. EVOC certification or its equivalent for drivers. An understanding of federal medical necessity for ambulance transportation guidelines. Operating within certification level at all times. Demonstrate values of Safety, Quality, Compliance and Teamwork. Ability to safely lift 150 lbs. and move patients of all shapes and sizes. Ability to navigate stretchers safely in unknown environments such as hospitals, facilities, nursing homes, doctor\'s offices and residences, including moving stretchers safely up and down ramps and over rough or uneven terrain. Treat all patients equally, with professionalism, dignity, and respect. Complete end of shift requirements in accordance with policies and procedures. Report any incidents immediately and cooperate to document the same in a timely manner. Main job responsibilities
Maintain a clean and professional physical appearance consistent with Procare policy. Maintain ambulance and equipment; ensure vehicles, supplies, and equipment are in proper working condition to transport patients in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations. Maintain the cosmetic appearance of assigned ambulance and complete vehicle and supply checks daily as required by MIEMSS and Procare policy. Report mechanical deficiencies to the Communications Center. Maintain equipment necessary for basic life support as outlined by company policy and MIEMSS standards. Report deficiencies immediately to the Communications Center. Work as a team to complete all transport requests safely and timely. Comply with uniform policy and maintain a professional appearance. Comply with all policies and procedures, including the holdover policy. Communicate, cooperate and collaborate with the Communications Center. Maintain possession of charged company phone for communication with the Communications Center. Ability to work overtime, nights, weekends, or holidays as needed. Knowledge of road safety and navigation in the areas served. Assemble paperwork for transfer of patient care. Accurately record all pertinent information on handwritten PCRs and full Electronica Patient Care Reports, including medical necessity explanations when applicable. Obtain related signatures and ensure timely reporting as per Medicare requirements. Provide verbal reports to facility staff and obtain appropriate signatures during handoffs. Follow Procare policies and procedures, read electronic communications, and acknowledge messages at the start of each shift. Attend required trainings or continuing education mandated by Procare or MIEMSS; annual training is mandatory. Follow the Chain of Command and report issues to the Communications Center. Represent the company positively and treat peers, patients, clients, and the public with professionalism and courtesy. Follow all applicable laws, rules, and regulations in all aspects of the job.
