Weekly Hybrid Working Arrangements: Minimum 2 days in Office and Maximum 3 days Remote Work. Hours: 8-5 pm. This position will comply with the Forensics Services Department current working arrangements. Work arrangements are subject to change at any time.
Organization Located within the Colorado Department of Human Services, the Office of Civil and Forensic Mental Health (OCFMH) is responsible for policy development, service provision and coordination, program monitoring and evaluation, and administrative oversight of the public behavioral health system. OCFMH funds, supports, and monitors numerous mental health and substance abuse community programs and providers. OCFMH also operates the Colorado Mental Health Hospitals at Fort Logan and Pueblo and the Forensic Services Division. OCFMH executes the State’s federal responsibilities as the State Mental Health Authority and State Substance Abuse Authority for the purposes of administering federal mental health and substance abuse block grant funds.
Forensic Services The Forensic Services Division is responsible for six departments including Forensic Community Based Services (FCBS), Jail Based Evaluation and Restoration (JBR), Outpatient Restoration (OPR), the Forensic Support Team (FST), the Court Services Department, and the Operations Department. The JBR Program exists to serve as the only program to provide jail-based competency restoration services for individuals found incompetent to proceed by the courts and ordered to undergo restoration treatment for the State of Colorado. The program additionally provides treatment to those individuals ordered by the courts to undergo an initial evaluation of competency. The Jail Based Restoration Program serves as the State expert on restoration and competency in a jail-based setting and collaborates with numerous other entities and governmental agencies to ensure best practices in admissions across the State, best practices in competency restoration treatment, and continuity of care and follow up care for individuals discharging from the program. The team coordinates admissions for inpatient competency, mental condition, and sanity evaluations as appropriate to occur at one of the settings the team oversees.
Job Duties
Screen Referrals for Admission to Hospital-Purchased Beds:
Gather referrals from various sources and use established criteria to determine admissions, transfers, and discharges in a timely and efficient manner. Analyze information including records and psychological assessments to make placement decisions. Respond quickly to changing patient placement needs and determine urgency of transfers between State hospitals, private hospital partnerships, and jail-based programs.
Work Lead to Health Professional III’s for Admission to Jail-Based Beds:
Assist Health Professional IIIs in delineating appropriateness between jail-based restoration programs and hospital-purchased beds. Analyze records and assessments and advise on placement and transfer needs.
Program Implementation and Monitoring Contractor Performance:
Serve as contract monitor for program performance using data, site visits, and audits. Promote compliance with CDHS policies and procedures and coordinate with contractors and CDHS leadership. Participate in on-call responsibilities during weekends and evenings as needed.
Admission Coordination and Reporting:
Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure essential information is communicated for admissions, discharges, and continuity of care. Track data and contribute to presentations and reporting to CDHS and OCFMH. Provide liaison support among contractors and treatment providers.
Other Duties as Assigned:
Perform additional duties as needed to support the Forensic Services Division.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience Only:
Seven (7) years of relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position.
OR Education and Experience:
A combination of related education and/or relevant experience equal to seven (7) years.
Special Qualification:
Master’s level education in a mental health/social work-related field and a current license as a Clinical Social Worker or a Professional Counselor in Colorado. Prefer previous experience with competency to stand trial and working with the severely mentally ill in acute settings.

Experience with competency to stand trial and working with the severely mentally ill in acute settings.
Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Gmail, and Google Applications; ability to quickly learn new software.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy; excellent time and organizational skills.
Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work independently and in a team; ability to prioritize tasks and collaborate with team members.
