Full Time Medical Assistant – Alexandria, VA
Virginia Cancer Specialists, an affiliate of McKesson Specialty Health and US Oncology, a leader in Cancer care, is seeking a full‑time medical assistant for our Alexandria office.

Responsibilities
Escort patients to and from exam rooms, physician offices, and treatment rooms as appropriate.
Record patient data prior to each physician visit, including vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes.
Obtain all necessary patient records as required by the physician prior to treatment or procedures; prepare and stock exam/treatment rooms and order supplies as needed.
Assist physicians with exams and procedures as requested.
Administer subcutaneous and intramuscular injections, as delegated by RN or physician.
Maintain all exam/treatment room disinfection protocols.
Answer patient telephone calls for referral to physicians or nurses/pharmacists; handle prescription calls and other patient calls as directed by physicians and RNs.
Inform physicians of patient reschedules and no‑shows.
Perform other administrative duties such as typing, filing, faxing, chart preparation, reception tasks, and the like as requested by supervisor or physician.
Minimum Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent; certificate from an accredited medical assistant program preferred.
Minimum three years of experience as a medical assistant or nursing assistant.
Phlebotomy experience preferred.
Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certification required; Certified Medical Assistant preferred.
Physical Demands Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination; requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time; occasionally lifts and carries items weighing up to 40 lbs.; requires corrected vision and hearing within normal range. Reasonable accommodations may be made.
Work Environment Work environment typical of an oncology/hematology clinic; exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to such settings. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
