Responsibilities

Perform duties in all aspects of the program to include providing inspection, permitting, and consultation of state rules and regulations for Food Service, Public Swimming Pools, and Tourist Accommodations facilities.

Provide services within the Body Art, Wastewater Management, Well Water, Emergency Preparedness, and other environmental health programs.

Investigate all assigned health‑related complaints received.

Minimum Qualifications

Environmental Health Specialist 1

– Bachelor’s degree with 27 semester hours in laboratory sciences. Salary $42,819.47.

Environmental Health Specialist 2

– Bachelor’s degree with 27 semester hours in laboratory sciences and one year experience at Specialist 1 role, salary $47,101.41.

Environmental Health Specialist 3

– Bachelor’s degree with 27 semester hours in laboratory sciences, one year experience at Specialist 2 role, completion of Georgia Environmental Health Training class, salary $51,811.56.

Environmental Health Specialist 4

– Bachelor’s degree with 27 semester hours in laboratory sciences, one year experience at Specialist 3 role, completion of Georgia Environmental Health Training class, salary $58,547.06.

Environmental Health Specialist 5

– Master’s degree in Environmental Health, Public Health or related field (or bachelor’s with 27 semester hours in laboratory sciences), current registration as a Registered Environmental Health Specialist or Sanitarian, one year experience at Specialist 4 role, salary $66,158.17.

Preferred Qualifications

Completion of DPH new hire training courses titled General EH, TA/Pools/Spas and Recreational Waters, Land Use, Food Service, Introduction to Soils, Level 2 Soils Training, Blood Borne Pathogens certifications course, First Aid/CPR.

Current valid certification as Inspector Level 1 and/or additional Inspector certifications (Drip Emitter, Mound/Area Fill, Commercial, Pump-ST, Pump-PS).

Current Georgia Standardized Food Service Establishment Inspection Officer.

Certified Safety Manager through 360training.com or equivalent.

Public Health experience and proof of course completion and college transcripts.

Additional Information All West Central Health District 7 employees are deemed essential workers in the event of an emergency. In such a case, you may be required to work at a shelter, specimen collection site, or dispensing site and must report to the designated site as a condition of employment.
