LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Oral Surgery Department is seeking motivated applicants for the position of Dental Assistant 1 or 2 in our Baton Rouge location. Duties and Responsibilities
To provide chair side assistance to a licensed dentist, residents, and undergrad student in the General Practice Residency Clinic. Assist dentist and dental students with chair side treatment of patients. Maintain and stock cabinets/carts. Instruct and evaluate students in proper four-handed dentistry techniques. Chart patients according to LSUSD systems (Axium, Schick, CDR) and computer knowledge. Give follow-up home instructions as directed by dentist or student. Implement and maintain infection control in the work area. Check inventory and order supplies when needed. Implement and follow safety guidelines as set forth by LSUHSC School of Dentistry and OSHA. Know dental terminology and correct nomenclature of all dental instruments. Be knowledgeable of computers. This position does not require applicants to take a Civil Service test. Pre-employment Drug testing and Criminal Background check are required. This position will require selected applicant to be in a probationary status for at least 6 months. Benefits
