Mission of the Crisis Stabilization Program

The program assists adults experiencing an acute psychiatric episode, helping them avoid hospitalization and achieve stabilization while receiving intensive treatment, close monitoring, and medication management in a homelike setting. The 16‑bed program operates at the Samuel B. Todd Center and the David J. Block Center, both licensed and accredited crisis stabilization facilities.

Position Overview

The Assistant Program Coordinator provides clients with support in daily activities and manages household operations under the supervision of the Program Coordinator. The role collaborates with the Program Coordinator and interdisciplinary team to ensure quality, client-centered care.

CSU Assistant Program Coordinator Duties & Responsibilities General

Provides for the safety, support, and wellbeing of residents.

Maintains integrity and security of the facility and property consistent with Environment of Care Standards (ECS).

Provides supportive counseling and crisis intervention consistent with program objectives, goals, and philosophy.

Advises and consults with on-call staff when appropriate.

Assists Program Coordinator in handling medication and disposing of hazardous material.

Maintains knowledge of resident status including appointments, activities, destinations, and travel times.

Remains informed regarding resident mental and physical status.

Reviews progress log at the beginning of each shift, documenting a progress log entry on each resident per shift.

Resident Support

Supervises self-administration of medication and monitors medication regimen.

Provides general skills training: chores, kitchen tasks, medication, laundry, grooming, and other daily living skills.

Monitors and ensures completion of chores to keep the house clean during shifts.

Facilitates new resident orientation.

Assists with symptom assessment and treatment planning with clinical teams.

Coordinates client schedules and needs with social workers and case managers.

Arranges transportation to outside appointments and personal needs.

Assesses readiness for discharge with treatment team.

Supports clients in attaining treatment plan goals.

Assesses and documents census board/contact notes at shift change.

Facilitates and leads group activities and assists clients in attending outside groups.

Encourages resident social interaction.

Completes shift‑change protocol with incoming staff.

Staff Supervision

Assists Program Coordinator in recruiting and hiring new staff.

Assists in planning and implementing employee training and orientation.

Provides ongoing supervision for Program Assistant, Psychiatric Rehab Specialist, and Peer Support Staff.

Assists in completing staffing schedule and processing leave requests.

Administrative

Monitors use of petty cash and balances & reports.

Assists with bus ticket usage, ordering, and reporting.

Maintains working knowledge of budget and controls spending per guidelines.

Oversees procurement of food, supplies, equipment, and program needs with Program Coordinator.

Submits check requests and receipts to accounting office promptly.

Attends and co-leads staff/treatment team meetings.

Attends agency program meetings.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

One year of social service or mental health experience is required.

Additional Information

Full-time, 2nd shift (3:00 PM – 11:00 PM).
