Under the guidance of the Clinical Laboratory Lead, this role performs routine laboratory procedures, specimen processing, testing, quality control, instrument maintenance, new procedure development, phlebotomy, and other duties as requested. Responsibilities

Meets expectations of OneCHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders. Performs routine laboratory procedures assigned to the primary section in age or sex specific values. Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory instrumentation and equipment, and makes minor repairs as necessary. Cross-trains to other laboratory sections as needed. Ensures that the laboratory's quality control program is properly followed. Calculates, enters, and verifies results of laboratory procedures. Utilizes the Laboratory Information System. Provides notification and documentation of critical laboratory values. Processes patient specimens, including collection, handling, and distribution. Participates in evaluation, development, and implementation of new or updated testing procedures and protocols. Demonstrates competence in assigned patient care responsibilities for the population-specific and developmental needs of patients served. Adapts patient assessment, treatment, and care methods to accommodate unique physical, psychosocial, cultural, age specific, and developmental needs. Demonstrates adherence to the CORE values of CHRISTUS Health. Completes all required compliance and regulatory tasks and follows all applicable policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Education & Skills

Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a chemical, physical, biological or clinical laboratory science or medical technology from an accredited institution, or equivalent laboratory training and experience meeting CLIA regulation 42CFR493.1489. OR Education evaluated by an equivalent credentialing agency deemed equivalent to a US Bachelor’s degree. OR Meets educational requirements of a Medical Laboratory Technician II (MLT-II). Experience

No experience required for graduates of an accredited NAACLS laboratory training program. OR One year of approved clinical laboratory experience, including rotations through Blood Banking, Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and Urinalysis/Body Fluids within the last 5 years. OR 5 years of experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT). Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

Must possess Certification for MT, MLS, CLS, or MLT from ASCP, AMT, AAB, or HEW/HHS within 1 year of hire. If certification with an expiration date is held, the certification must be maintained and kept current. Louisiana requires State Licensure. New Graduate that is Board Certified or eligible (must complete Board Certification in 1 year of hire, Louisiana excluded). Work Schedule
