Job Description
Demonstrates competence in performing abdominal/breast, ultrasound techniques and examinations according to established protocols. Will be assisting with minor surgical procedures (i.e. cyst aspirations and biopsies). Modifies protocols to optimize each scan to best serve patients needs.
Demonstrates skill and knowledge in use of all standard ultrasound equipment and a solid foundation in ultrasound theory.
Consistently demonstrates technical proficiency in producing diagnostic breast scans abdominal, breast, images with the ability to recognize anatomical structures that are visualized.
Produces high quality images; positions and transfers patients; selects proper technical factors; and selects and operates equipment as outlined in the departmental policy and procedure manual; refers to manual as necessary.
Routinely prepares examinations for interpretation by the Radiologist to include correct identification, adequate clinical history, proper documentation of preliminary findings and previous sonograms for comparison.
Demonstrates competency to provide preliminary assessment and to provide preliminary analyses.
Proficiently identifies breast pathology on all ultrasound exams.
Implements safety standards and performs appropriate quality control procedures
Participate in various teaching and mentoring of ultrasound students.
Able to perform imaging on all age groups.
Consults with the physician as applicable regarding the quality of images and data obtained.
Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
Education
Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program
Licensure / Certification / Registration
Credentialed from the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS)
Requirements Registered Vascular Sonographer and credentialed in one or more of the following: Abdomen, Breast, and/or Ob/Gyn
Experience
Minimum of one year experience.
Proficient in real time, color flow, doppler, transvaginal, biopsies, interventional procedures, including breast biopsies
Specific levels of knowledge in the following subspecialties, breast, abdomen, gynecology, and peripheral.
