DENTAL ASSISTANT JOB SUMMARY The duties of the Dental Assistant position includes assisting with procedures under the direct supervision of a dentist, providing prophylaxis and sealants, exposing radiographs, taking impressions and pouring models, along with many other expanded functions.
PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Treat patients promptly and with courtesy
Chart accurately
Adhere to Universal Precautions at all times
Cleanse and sterilize instruments
Prepare equipment and assist dentist during treatment and examination of patient
Help maintain efficient patient flow
Answer telephone and messages in a timely manner
Answer patient questions as needed
Clean all exam rooms at the end of shift
Other responsibilities as assigned
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma or equivalent
Graduate of an accredited program for Dental Assistants with certificate including Expanded Functions
Up-to-date vaccines
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Understand and strive to maintain Teamwork
Ability to work under pressure and communicate effectively with health care teams
Computer competency
Ability to work well with others
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
Bilingual a plus
RELATIONSHIP REPORTING Reports to the Dentist
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS OF JOB
Communicate effectively with patients and staff
Be able to sit, stand, or view a computer screen for extended periods of time
Perform repetitive hand and wrist motions for extended periods of time
Be able to use hand and fingers to handle or feelBe able to reach with hands and arms
