Overview
Cardiac Sonographer, Echo Lab, Full Time, First Shift with up to a $15,000 sign-on bonus at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. UC Health is hiring a full-time Cardiac Sonographer for the echo lab department on first shift. The Cardiac Sonographer will perform echocardiographic diagnostic modalities and use a variety of equipment to assess cardiac function, anatomy and flow parameters. Responsibilities
Engages in population-appropriate communication. Has knowledge of growth and development milestones and tasks. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment. Involves family/guardian in assessment, initial treatment and continuing care; identifies physical limitations and deploys intervention when necessary. Recognizes and responds appropriately to patients/families with behavioral health problems. Interprets population-related data and plans care accordingly. Identifies and responds to diverse needs including psychological and cultural differences. Performs treatments, administers medications or operates equipment safely. Recognizes and responds to signs/symptoms of abuse or neglect. Performs echocardiographic diagnostic procedures to determine accurate assessment of cardiac function, anatomy and flow parameters in multiple patient care areas. Performs 2D, Adult Congenital, 3D, AFI, Dyssynchrony, Dobutamine, Bicycle and Treadmill Stress echocardiograms, Transesophageal, and 3D Transesophageal studies. Conducts studies of consistently high quality following established protocols. Delineates and records abnormalities and adjusts technique as required by patient care needs. Participates in research studies and maintains patient confidentiality. Utilizes Epic scheduling/patient data charting software and manages daily scheduling and patient transport coordination; follows hospital policy for reporting critical results. Complies with all department policies and procedures and safety, infection control, and disaster plan requirements. Serves as a professional role model in providing quality patient care and offers appropriate test/indication selection. Provides one-on-one training to student technologists, cardiology fellows, and other staff physicians; knowledge of Merge Cardio operations and related systems. Qualifications
Education and Experience: Completion of a two-year Allied Health degree and successful completion of a 12-month CAAHEP-approved program in Ultrasound Technology or Cardiovascular Technology, or equivalent education. Ability to obtain ARDMS or CCI certification in cardiac ultrasound (RDCS or RCS). Licenses and Certifications: ARDMS/CCI Certification within twelve months of employment. Experience: Required clinical hours to become registry eligible. Competency: Knowledge and demonstrated ability in current echocardiography practice, including cognitive, technical, interpersonal and communication skills for adult, geriatric, and adolescent populations.
