Job Summary and Qualifications General Statement of Duties:
The Cardiac Cath Lab Invasive Specialist‑Certified plays multiple roles on the Cardiac Cath Lab team, providing technical proficiency in all procedures, applying anatomical and physiological knowledge, and maintaining communication with the Cath Lab team.
Education, Experience, and Training
High School graduate or GED.
One (1) year full‑time Invasive Cardiovascular Technology experience.
Associate Degree or equivalent (62 semester hours) in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering or any primary science.
Graduate of an accredited program in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology.
Graduate of a non‑programmatic accredited program with at least one year of specialty training and 800 clinical hours.
Employee completes initial and ongoing training and competencies specific to the service line and patient population.
Preferred: Two (2) years full‑time in Invasive Cardiovascular Technology or Baccalaureate in health, science, natural science, nursing, engineering, or primary science with six months of Invasive Cardiovascular Technology experience.
License, Certificates, or Registrations
ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) or equivalent.
Current cath‑lab technicians must pass the RCIS/RCES exam within 18 months of start date.
RCIS (Registered Cardiac Invasive Specialist) from CCI.
RCES (Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist).
Certified Surgical Tech or Registered Respiratory Therapist.
EMT‑B (Basic) / EMT‑P (Paramedic).
Essential Job Functions
Demonstrate technical proficiency for all cardiac catheterization procedures as a primary Cardiac Cath Lab Invasive Specialist.
Consistently and correctly identify cardiac structures, coronary vasculature, and associated disease processes.
Practice radiation safety and adhere to ALARA principles, including knowledge of Texas Bureau of Radiation Control regulations.
Assist the physician with data entry into physiologic monitoring systems for accurate hemodynamic measurements.
Accurately report ejection fraction using left ventricular analysis programs.
Ensure angiographic and procedural data are properly archived for long‑term storage.
Additional Job Functions
May have access to contrast agents and other non‑controlled medications as appropriate.
Takes “Call” on a rotating basis.
Supports the mission and vision of Methodist Healthcare System.
Complies with system and facility safety policies and reports unsafe conditions.
Adheres to the MHS Code of Conduct and demonstrates ethical behavior.
Completes duties as assigned.
