Transportation & Parking Services (TPS) is part of Housing, Dining, and Auxiliary Enterprises (HDAE). TPS is an innovative and self-sustaining department that supports the UCSB mission by providing safe and reliable parking, fleet services and transportation alternatives to our campus community. TPS manages over 9,500 parking spaces and over 400 vehicles. TPS coordinates inbound and outbound traffic planning for all major campus events. Benefits of Belonging:

Enforces University parking regulations by issuing citations and courtesy warnings to vehicles illegally parked. Identifies vehicles to be "booted" and processes them according to California Vehicle Code. Keeps current of campus events and their locations. Directs traffic and escorts vehicles including semi-trucks and buses. Informs supervisor of problems as they arise. Provides parking instructions and gives directions. Qualifications: Required Qualifications: High School Diploma Demonstrated exceptional customer service by providing and delivering professional, helpful, high quality service and assistance. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to collaborate with students, staff, faculty and the general public. Ability to grasp new concepts. Ability to maintain professionalism and composure under high customer demand and challenging customer interactions. Ability to work as part of a team, maintain a positive attitude and work together to achieve a common goal of providing world class customer service. Excellent written and verbal communication. Preferred Qualifications: 1-3 years Previous parking enforcement experience. 1-3 years General knowledge of: CA Vehicle Code; traffic signs, traffic barricading and associated equipment; traffic laws and regulations pertaining to traffic control; the hazards and safety precautions to be observed in traffic operations work. Special Conditions of Employment: Maintain a valid CA driver's license. Must wear prescribed uniform while on duty. Ability to work outside year round in inclement weather using established foul weather gear provided by the department. Ability to stand and walk for most of each shift and walk an average of 6 to 8 miles daily over hilly terrain, around parked cars in both covered and uncovered parking facilities. Required to hold a valid driver's license, have a driving record that is in accordance with local policies and procedures, and/or enroll in the California Employer Pull Notice Program. Job Functions and Percentages of Time: 55% Enforcement - Maintain current knowledge of all parking regulations. Patrol assigned parking areas, including metered areas, for violations of parking regulations. Enforce regulations through issuance of parking citations and courtesy warnings. Identify vehicles eligible to be "booted" and process them according to California Vehicle Code (CVC) requirements. Attach vehicle immobilizer devices and appropriate warning labels. Assist police department in towing of vehicles according to California Vehicle Code. Identify vehicles on the Lost and Stolen Permit Report and process them according to regulations. 25% General Duties - Escort large trucks, position signage, collect parking meter payments, assist in traffic control in emergencies, attend meetings, provide service for disabled vehicles, operate radio equipment, kiosk coverage, greet the public, direct visitors, maintain campus building knowledge, transport kiosk personnel, perform other duties as required. 15% Special Events - Work shifts for special events, enforce parking/regulations and traffic flow, locate signage. 5% Permit Machines & Meters - Troubleshoot, repair, report vandalism.
