Administers nursing care within scope of practice as set forth in Division (F) of Section 4723.01 of the Ohio Revised Code under the direction of a registered nurse, licensed physician, dentist, podiatrist, optometrist or chiropractor. This includes administering medications and treatments, maintaining medication accountability records, observing and reporting patient conditions, providing general nursing and direct care, supporting programming, and assisting in coordinating care and training for lower-level direct care staff. Tasks may include taking vital signs, assisting with daily living activities, preparing and maintaining related reports, and performing clerical tasks as assigned. Orders medication and medical supplies and maintains the nursing station and medication room/carts. What’s in It for You

Knowledge of skilled licensed practical nursing procedures, pharmacology, client/patient care, first aid, CPR, general hospital practices and HIPAA regulations; inventory control; and employee training and development. Skill in use of medical equipment (e.g., respirator, dialysis machine), measurement tools, and computer use. Ability to understand practical nursing concepts, respond to unusual or threatening conditions, develop rapport with patients, understand manuals and verbal instructions, and perform injections and other medical treatments. Ability to move, reposition, or restrain patients as needed. Licensure
License to practice nursing as a licensed practical nurse issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing pursuant to Section 4723 Ohio Revised Code, and proof of completion of an approved course in medication administration. Licensed Practical Nurses who administer dialysis treatment must possess Certification in IV Therapy pursuant to Section 4723.17 Ohio Revised Code. Training and Development Required
Biennial renewal of licensure as practical nurse. Obtain and maintain certification in CPR. Unusual working conditions: work nights and weekends with rotating days off; may be required to work mandatory overtime; exposure to bodily fluids; exposure to unpredictable patient behavior, illness, or infectious diseases; travel to community sites may be required.
