Job Summary
A biostatistician is critical to WellStar Health System's (WHS) world-class excellence journey in research. This position will support GME Residents, Nursing Fellows, and other designated stakeholders across WHS in the following capacity: the development and review of protocols, grant applications and other collaborations by providing statistical expertise in: Study Design (sample size and power computation, statistical analysis planning, randomization and expertise on adaptive trial design); Study Conduct (randomization, questionnaire design, variable definition, database structure, interim analysis, resolution of statistical questions as they arise during ongoing studies, and data safety monitoring including participation in data monitoring committee); and Data Analysis and Results Reporting (survival analysis, generalized linear models, correlated and longitudinal data analysis, data mining, predictive modeling, forecasting and comparative effectiveness research).
Responsibilities
Study Design and Conduct: sample size and power computation; statistical analysis planning; randomization; adaptive trial design; questionnaire design; variable definition; database structure; interim analysis; resolution of statistical questions as they arise during ongoing studies; data safety monitoring including participation in DSMC. Data Analytics and Results Reporting: uses statistical tools/programs provided by Wellstar Health System; survival analysis; generalized linear models; analyses of multi-source data trends using a variety of statistical approaches; correlated and longitudinal data analysis; data mining; predictive modeling; forecasting and comparative effectiveness research. Research & Collaboration: consults on protocol design and development; collaborates with researchers in development of scholarly articles; provides research mentoring for medical residents and nursing research fellowship. Interpretation & Reporting: interprets statistical findings related to projects; provides a consistent cadence of reporting to leadership of WRI, GME, and Nursing; provides on-time summaries of analyses to team members; allocates time to the review and discussion of data analyses with team members to ensure understanding and next steps; performs other duties as assigned. Compliance: complies with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct. Qualifications
Required Minimum Education Masters Public Health or Masters Biostatistics - Preferred or Doctorate Biostatistics - Preferred Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s) All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. Additional License(s) And Certification(s) Required Minimum Experience Minimum 3 years post-Masters degree in applied biostatistics (Required) or Minimum 1 year post-Doctorate (Required) Required Minimum Skills Strong data and analytical abilities; action-oriented; knowledge of research methodology; knowledge and application of advanced statistical methods (e.g., statistical regression); attention to detail; clear and effective communication (both verbal and written); ability to plan and align; ability to collaborate across groups while driving results; adept at Lean processes that reduce waste; technology savvy; and presentation abilities. The Biostatistician should discern when high-level analyses are appropriate versus more detailed, methodical approaches.
