Position
Speech Language Pathologist – Inpatient at Cleveland Clinic Martin Health.
Work schedule: 8:00am – 4:30pm, four weekend days per 8‑week period.
Overview Martin Health delivers advanced research, surgery and world‑class patient care. As an Inpatient Speech Pathologist you will work alongside physicians, nurses and other caregivers in a family‑oriented, supportive environment.
Responsibilities
Evaluate patients and apply a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of functional limitations, impairments, and disorders.
Provide, interpret, plan and supervise patient evaluations and treatments in accordance with the physician referral, ensuring patient safety and wellbeing.
Continuously review the plan of care and make revisions as needed.
Prepare progress reports on all treatments, following departmental policies and procedures.
Instruct and counsel medical staff and family members in treatment techniques.
Perform voice evaluations, treat voice disorders, and conduct bedside swallow evaluations.
Demonstrate competency with MBSs for adults and pediatrics.
Follow Code Blue protocol per Clinic policy.
Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals (JCAHO).
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s, Doctorate or SLP‑D Degree from an accredited School of Speech‑Language Pathology.
Current Speech‑Language Pathology license (SP) from the State Board of Speech‑Language Pathology & Audiology.
Certification of Clinical Competence (CCC‑SLP) from ASHA.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with medical speech pathology.
Flexibility to float between sites.
Physical Requirements
Medium/frequent lifting and carrying equipment and supplies up to 50 pounds without mechanical devices.
Stooping, pushing, pulling and reaching while moving patients or equipment.
Clear hearing and vision; visual acuity for instruction and treatment.
Exposure to blood and blood‑borne pathogens during clinical duties.
Strong reasoning, mathematics and English language skills.
Ability to work at a fast pace, prioritize multiple assignments, and collaborate with the healthcare team.
Personal Protective Equipment
Follow Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures.
