Base pay range: $75,000.00 / yr – $95,000.00 / yr.
Duties / Responsibilities
Provide geotechnical engineering guidance for due diligence, investigation, impact assessment, improvement, and construction of infrastructure projects in the public and private sector. Tasks may include research, design, analysis, concept development, planning, and construction of roads, buildings, tunnels, dams, canals, levees, bridges, airports, water supply systems, underground storage, and sewage treatment.
Perform basic professional geotechnical engineering work relating to research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions, including subsurface investigations, soil foundation engineering, settlement analysis, soil erosion, lateral earth pressures, geological hazards, underground water, and slope stability for commercial, industrial, building, infrastructure, and transportation projects.
Perform and/or lead field investigations, engineering analysis, calculations, recommendations, design and development of plans and specifications, observation, inspection, and the writing, preparation, and review of related reports for the services provided.
Verify site characteristics and provide technical assistance on design and construction issues involving rock and soil mechanics, and investigate subsurface and geological conditions to design and build foundations, earth structures, and pavement sub‑grades.
Write technical reports summarizing research findings and conclusions, generating complete, accurate, and concise documentation using sketches, calculations, electronic systems, spreadsheets, and software.
Develop work plans and coordinate field/site work and laboratory testing.
Provide support services during construction that may include submittal reviews, responses to requests for information, and contract document clarifications.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Geotechnical, or Structural Engineering.
Professional Engineer (PE) or EIT preferred.
5+ years of geotechnical engineering experience.
Ability to prepare complete, concise, and organized engineering calculations and reports.
Proficient in geotechnical software including gINT, Slope/W, Seep/W, APILE, LPILE, GRLWeap, Settle3D (or other settlement software).
Ability to travel to project sites and physically access all points of a construction site in varying climates and environmental conditions.
Must have a valid driver’s license and be insurable.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
Physically mobile in and around construction sites and field assignments.
Ability to carry required instruments and equipment.
Ability to lift 50 pounds.
Ability to safely and successfully perform essential job functions consistent with ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
