As an Interventional Vascular Technologist, you will provide technical assistance with diagnostic and interventional procedures. Using your training and advanced knowledge, you will acquire and process all images, ensuring accuracy and clarity. In this role, you will gain ample experience, resources to learn and grow and encouragement as you find your place within the Cleveland Clinic system and make a difference in the lives of patients every day.

A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00AM – 3:30PM or 9:00AM - 5:30PM. No weekends.

This is a PRN position, hours will vary depending on what shift needs to be covered. The only on-call would be if they cover a holiday.

This person will rotate between Avon Hospital and Fairview Hospital. They will be responsible for doing both body and neuro cases.

A caregiver who excels in this role will:

Utilize sterile or aseptic technique to scrub in and perform vascular, interventional and surgical procedures per protocol. Establish effective working relationships and utilize a team approach to process improvement. Perform duties in instances when normal, routine practice cannot be applied, often in high stress situations. Educate patients regarding procedures, equipment and exams to ensure understanding and cooperation. Check and prepare patients prior to Vascular-Interventional study and ensure patients safety and comfort during and after exams. Sets-up or operate injector to administer contrast agents for procedures. Manually inject contrast agent if no pressure injector is utilized. Operate ancillary equipment adherent to specific procedures. Screen patients for ability to undergo procedure by understanding baseline lab requirements. Demonstrate understanding of primary purpose of drugs used in IR, indications, contraindications, contrast drug interactions and major effects. Position patient to obtain radiographic exposure, adjust exposure factors and process images. Adapt imaging and therapeutic procedures with professional judgment to improve diagnostic quality and therapeutic outcome. Acquire, archive, transmit and print images via PACS and complete after-hours transmission of images and appropriate paperwork. Immediately report malfunctions to help desk and PACS Administrator. Processes billing via RIS. Record and maintain procedural data to include injection data, elapsed fluoroscopic time and procedural information. Monitor equipment, systems, cleans equipment and effects timely repair. Teach and instruct students and new hires.

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

Graduate of an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology Registered Technologist credentialed by The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists [R.T.(R) (ARRT)] in good standing Current state licensure as a Radiology Technologist Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association Knowledge of radiologic physics and computerized vascular equipment to safely inject and image human vascular anatomy Knowledge of vascular anatomy and pathology sufficient to apply to interventional and diagnostic exams

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:

One year of experience as a General Radiologic Technologist Interventional Radiology experience strongly preferred Certification in Cardiovascular-Interventional Radiography [R.T.(R)(CV)(ARRT)] or Vascular-Interventional Radiology [R.T.(R)(VI)(ARRT)] Experience in a high-volume Angiography Department Strong background in angiography and sterile techniques

Physical Requirements:

Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time. Must be able to lift or assist with lifting patients of varying weight and manipulate equipment daily.

Personal Protective Equipment:

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
