Job Title: A&P Mechanic III.
Pay Rate: $42/hr.
Location: Edwards, CA 93524.
Job Type: 8 Month Contract.
Start Date: Right Away.
Duties
Responsible for repairs, replacement, and maintenance of key components of aircraft.
Perform checks of mechanical and functional components of aircraft, including testing and replacement of defective or faulty parts.
Use a variety of tools and equipment to diagnose parts and ensure repairs and maintenance comply with national and international standards, while maintaining safety and cleanliness of the hangar or workshop.
Demonstrate knowledge in one of the three main components of aviation maintenance: airframe maintenance, powerplant mechanics, or Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) components.
Skills
Must have active, current FAA Airframe and Powerplant certification with no prior FAA violations.
Reliable transportation to and from work locations.
Own tools in good working order.
Ability to speak, read, and write in English.
Pass and maintain Class 3 physical requirements, including a hearing test.
Ability to understand and interpret applicable technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and publications.
Advanced skills in repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting aircraft airframes and engines.
Preferred
Ability to obtain and maintain a clearance.
FAA repair station and/or Quality Assurance experience.
Familiarity with FAR/DFARS.
Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the U.S. Department of Defense or U.S. Military.
Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent with typically 5 or more years of relevant experience.
A higher level degree may substitute for experience.
Related experience may be considered in lieu of required.
Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements
Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps.
Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motions many times, requiring dexterity.
Requires vision abilities including clear distance depth perception and color discrimination.
Requires hearing abilities to discern different tones and volumes.
Frequently lift or carry up to 50 lbs.
Working Conditions
Frequently exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow).
Frequently exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials.
Frequently exposed to loud noises.
Safety Sensitive Position
Responsible for the safety or security of people or property.
Inspects, handles, or transports explosives, dangerous or hazardous materials.
Inspects structures, equipment, or vehicles.
Performs aviation related duties.
Operates or supervises vehicles, heavy or dangerous equipment or machinery.
