Job Overview We’re looking for a Journey-Level Electrician to install, maintain, and repair the electrical systems that power hatcheries, offices, and field sites across the state. From troubleshooting motors and control systems to wiring essential facilities, your expertise keeps our operations safe and efficient. Responsibilities
Perform skilled installation, maintenance, and repair work on low voltage electrical equipment and systems of 600 V or less.
Install, modify, maintain, and repair interior wiring and cables, connections for electric machines, switches, and controls, fuse boxes, breaker panels, distribution and instrument panels, buzzer and bell circuits, and power circuits.
Install, adjust, maintain, modify, and repair electric motors, pumps (up to 300 hp), fans, metering devices, power tools, generators.
Inspect electric systems and equipment to detect and correct faulty or worn parts.
Perform electrical testing including voltage, amperage, and meg-ohm for assessing electrical efficiency and motor degradation.
Schedule and coordinate dates for arrival of supplies and equipment.
Working Conditions
Work setting: construction sites, hatchery and wildlife areas, and fabrication shop. Hazards include rough terrain, riverbanks, slippery slopes, confined spaces, and weather extremes.
Schedule: full‑time, 40 hrs/week, Monday – Thursday 6:00 am – 4:30 pm with occasional evening or weekend work as needed.
Travel: 60–80 % travel to and from work sites, including overnight travel.
Tools & equipment: Volt‑ohm meter, megger, phase rotation meter, ammeter, pipe benders, threaders, Sawzall, band saw, drill motors, impact drives, roto hammers, wrenches, sockets, screwdrivers.
Customer interaction: frequent interactions with federal, local, inter‑agency, and intra‑agency customers and vendors.
Qualifications
Journey‑level electrician with demonstrated experience on hatcheries, offices, and field sites.
Proficient in low voltage electrical systems, motor troubleshooting, wiring, and testing.
Strong problem‑solving skills and commitment to safety.
Valid Washington state electrician license (or ability to obtain).
