RN Weekender Flex - Med/Surg

Medina Hospital’s 2 South is a Complex Medicine Unit known for its compassionate, comprehensive, and patient‑first care, highly skilled nursing team and engaging work environment. Featuring 25 patient beds, Registered Nurses in this unit manage pre‑surgical patients and patients needing antibiotic treatment and wound care, perform advanced dressing changes, and assist with bedside thoracentesis/paracentesis. As a Registered Nurse in this unit, you will quickly enhance your skills caring for diverse populations of patients with varying medical/surgical needs and be a part of a multidisciplinary team.
Schedule This RN position is part of Cleveland Clinic’s Weekender Flex Program and will require you to work two 12‑hour shifts per weekend and one 12‑hour shift during the week. Weekend shift options start at 7:00 pm on Fridays and end at 7:30 am on Mondays. While you are only working 36 hours a week, Cleveland Clinic will pay you for 44 hours of work and give you full‑time status and benefits. This schedule allows caregivers to enjoy personal time during the week with family and friends and take care of errands that will not interfere with a typical day shift schedule.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:00 am -- 7:30 pm.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct nursing care.
Implement, monitor, evaluate, update and revise patient care plans.
Monitor, record, document and communicate patients’ conditions.
Administer prescribed medications and treatments.
Note and carry out physician and nursing orders.
Assess and coordinate patients’ discharge needs.
Educate patients and their families.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing.
Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
One year of current acute care RN experience OR military RN experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Physical Requirements
Requires full range of body motion including handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, and eye‑hand coordination.
Requires standing and walking for extended periods of time.
Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
Requires working under stressful conditions and irregular hours.
Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids.
Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Pay Range Minimum hourly: $33.50
Maximum hourly: $53.60
