Overview
Substation Physical Project Designer (Delineante) - Grid. Join to apply for the Substation Physical Project Designer (Delineante) - Grid role at Sargent & Lundy. This position is based on a hybrid schedule requiring in-office work 3 days per week. Responsibilities
Work in a project team with engineers and other designers involved in high and extra high voltage substation design. Prepare and perform detailed review of substation drawings including: Substation General Arrangement Substation Electrical Equipment Plans Substation Electrical Section Views (Elevations) Substation Detailed Bill of Material Substation Lightning Stroke Shielding Plan Substation Grounding Plan Substation Conduit, Electrical Connection and Grounding Details Substation Below Grade Conduit/Raceway Plan Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, Grounding Plans and Section Performs technical review of project team comments on vendor design deliverables, coordinates incorporation of comments, and resolves project team issues. Acts as lead during field walkdowns, gathers data at client facilities, interfaces with clients and contractors, and conducts constructability walkdowns with clients and contractors. Identifies applicable codes and standards, provides guidance on applying them, and contributes to the quality system for standards and processes. Mentors designers, drafters, and other stakeholders in design tools and client-specific tools. Reviews and supervises production of design deliverables and provides technical guidance on calculations. Develops cost-effective design approaches and ensures input from other disciplines for integrated design. Obtains input for calculations and independently prepares and reviews calculations. Manages work plan within budget and schedule, guiding the project team to meet targets. Delegates and monitors work of assigned staff on technical matters; provides performance feedback and handles personnel issues. Oversees day-to-day performance and personnel issues for the assigned group. Qualifications
Minimum 12 years of substation physical design experience. Associate's Degree in Drafting or equivalent technical experience. Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation. Ability to visualize Equipment Details, Phase to Ground and Phase to Phase Clearances; multi-tasking across projects; 3D visualization without CAD aid. Must be bilingual in Spanish and English (speak, read, and write). We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position. Valued Knowledge/Skills
Assoc. Degree in Computer Aided Design. Familiarity with Bentley Substation, Inventor SDS, and BlueBeam. Familiar with ground-based Lidar and point cloud to vector conversion. Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles for technical plans, drawings, and models. Knowledge of engineering science and technology and applying equipment to technical design. Benefits
