HVAC Changeout Technician Location:
Richmond, VA Position description:
The mission of the HVAC Changeout Technician is responsible for removing and replacing existing HVAC systems, including furnaces, air conditioners, and related components. This role involves a combination of technical skills, physical labor, and customer interaction, ensuring efficient and safe installations. Primary Responsibilities
Safely disconnecting and removing existing HVAC equipment, including electrical wiring, refrigerant lines, and ductwork. Install new furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, or other HVAC components according to manufacturer specifications and local codes. Making necessary adjustments or modifications to existing ductwork to accommodate the new system, ensuring proper airflow and efficiency. Connecting electrical components and wiring, ensuring proper voltage and safety standards are met. Handling refrigerants safely and responsibly, including charging new systems and recovering refrigerant from old systems according to EPA regulations. Testing and balancing the new HVAC system to ensure roper airflow, temperature control, and energy efficiency. Explaining the new system to the customer, providing information on operation, maintenance, and energy efficiency. Adhering to all safety procedures and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries. Keeping accurate records of work performed, including materials used, system specifications, and customer information. Identifying and resolving any issues or malfunctions that may arise during the changeout process. Working effectively with other team members, including installers, helpers, and supervisors. Required Skills
Strong understanding of HVAC systems, including electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration principles. Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in confined spaces, and climb ladders. Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot issues that may arise during the changeout process. Ability to communicate effectively with customers and provide excellent service. Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and regulations related to HVAC work. EPA Certification Benefits
