Civil-Site Designer-Experienced
POWER Engineers, Member of WSP is a leader in the design of energy infrastructure projects worldwide, is currently seeking an Experienced Civil-Site Designer to work in the Power Generation Civil/Structural/Architectural Department in Overland Park Kansas. Under the guidance of experienced staff, the successful candidate will create site development drawing packages using AutoCAD and MicroStation software.

Help us assist multiple types of clients (Independent Power Producers, Municipal Electric Utilities, Investor-Owned Utilities, Contractors, and Developers,) address their challenges and implementing power grid systems of the future. Get experience in a wide range of power plant technologies including biomass, municipal waste, geothermal, hydrogen, fossil fuel, carbon capture, battery energy storage, hydro, and solar. Work on projects for multiple POWER Divisions (Power Generation, Power Delivery, Facilities, and Federal.)
Roles and Responsibilities
The position involves drafting and designing opportunities on power generation, renewable energy, and substation projects that include civil-site development 3D modeling, design, and detailing. Most projects occur within the United States with some opportunities to work on the international market projects
Over time the successful candidate will be able to perform site plans, grading, storm water management piped systems and detention basins, wastewater management piped systems and infiltration fields, and erosion control design

Required Education/Experience
Associate's degree in drafting (or equivalent technical degree)
Civil-site development design project experience in any industry
Site development experience, including the ability to create grading plans and details, erosion control design, retaining wall design and site survey coordinate systems
The candidate must have a strong command of the English language with good written and oral communication skills to work effectively with other team members
Candidate must be legally authorized to work permanently in the U.S. without the need for work sponsorship
Desired Education/Experience
4-20 years drafting experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation
AutoCAD Civil3D or MicroStation Open-Roads (In-Roads) experience including the ability to:
Model an existing surface from survey data
Model proposed Grading using feature lines and/or grading tools
Model road designs using alignments and/or corridors
Vehicle access design from public roads to proposed improvements with Auto-Turn or Autodesk Vehicle Tracking
Knowledge of industry-standard storm-water pipe, wastewater pipe, concrete, and rebar detailing practices
