Description Wake Forest University invites applications for a non‑tenure, teaching‑track position: Assistant Teaching Professor of Computer Science or Assistant Professor of the Practice of Computer Science, effective July 1, 2026.
Qualifications An earned Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required for the Assistant Teaching Professor position, while an earned MS or higher with industry experience is required for the Professor of the Practice position. Qualified applicants will demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate courses required for the major and minor and contribute to an academic environment that fosters learning and growth. Applicants with interest and experience in developing new undergraduate courses in human‑computer interaction or software development are of particular interest.
Position Summary This individual will primarily teach introductory and core courses for the undergraduate major and minor in computer science.
Typical courses include:
CSC 111
CSC 112
CSC 201
CSC 231
CSC 250
CSC 251
CSC 301
Other responsibilities include departmental, college, and university service and community outreach. The teaching load is six courses (3+3) annually. The position is eligible for renewal and promotion with progressively longer‑term contracts.
