Overview

Logan Health is looking for a PRN Registered Nurse (RN) supporting pre-op/PACU for our Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Ambulatory Surgery Center. Location/training details: This position is located near Logan Health Medical Center at 111 Sunnyview Lane, Kalispell, MT, and may assist at our Polson location. We seek a detail-oriented and motivated RN. Although a background in Pre-op/PACU is desired, prior nursing experience in this area is not required.

Logan Health Orthopedics & Sports Medicine has board-certified and fellowship-trained surgeons who provide a broad spectrum of orthopedic specialty care for individuals of all ages. Responsibilities

Assist in pre-operative and post-operative care, ensuring patient safety and comfort.

Assist with upkeep by maintaining crash carts and managing outdated supplies appropriately.

Prepare charts and patient documentation for procedures.

Conduct pre-op and post-op phone calls to provide patient instructions and follow-ups.

Kalispell:

Circulate for Ambulatory and Orthopedic procedures.

Polson:

Circulate for procedures, including colonoscopies, endoscopies, and pediatric dentistry.

Develops, implements and coordinates individualized, goal directed nursing care to patients through the nursing process as appropriate for the assigned area(s).

Maintains nursing standards of care and responds to changing workloads and patient conditions.

Transcribes and implements provider orders and treatments accurately and efficiently; problem-solves issues impacting patient care.

Exhibits infection control procedures per policy and procedure as applicable to the assigned area(s).

Documents all encounters with patients seeking health advice according to organizational standards.

Provides education to patients and families concerning health and medical needs per department protocol.

Assesses needs, coordinates interventions, and follows provider orders as applicable to assigned area(s).

Identifies and reports changes in patients’ physical and mental conditions.

Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with HIPAA guidelines.

Maintains computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent software.

Qualifications

Current Montana RN license or a multi-state compact license with authorization to practice nursing within Montana; required. BSN preferred.

Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a similar medical setting preferred.

Knowledge of professional nursing theory, medical terminology and nursing practice.

Healthcare Provider (HCP) CPR and/or BLS certification as required by practice/service line.

Additional certifications may be required as applicable to assigned area(s).

Understanding of confidentiality laws (HIPAA).

Knowledge of office equipment, supplies, and basic clinical laboratory methods; universal precautions.

Familiarity with OSHA rules and regulations and handling of regulated materials; awareness of managed care carrier requirements.

Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a commitment to confidentiality.

Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Computer literacy and ability to learn new software.

Maintain infection control per policy and procedure.

Document patient encounters according to standards and nursing process.

Educate patients and families on health needs per protocol.

Coordinate interventions based on policy and provider orders.

Collaborate with team to ensure quality patient care.

Variable (United States of America) Schedule:

PRN, variable shifts Logan Health operates 24/7. Schedules are set to accommodate the position and organization needs and may be adjusted as needed. PRN positions offer flexibility and may include a matching 401(k) and Employee Assistance Program. Some shifts may qualify for hourly differential pay. Pay rates and scheduling vary by department.
