Job Summary and Responsibilities Location: CHI St. Alexius Health – Bismarck, ND – Emergency Department. The role is a Dual Exempt position serving as an ED Clinical Nurse Educator and a Nurse Residency Site Coordinator.

Clinical Educator Responsibilities

Assesses, researches, coordinates, facilitates, implements, and evaluates educational and professional development programs, services, and systems as established by CHI Health nursing division and/or campus leadership.

Acts as a role model, clinical nursing expert, change agent, mentor, and leader to the campus and CHI Health nursing division.

Provides consulting for organizational, divisional, and system initiatives related to nursing practice.

Actively seeks evidence‑based practice findings and applies them to clinical excellence and education.

Leads quality improvement initiatives.

Coordinates nursing transitions to practice and ongoing professional development through onboarding, orientation, residency, fellowships, competency assessment, and preceptor/mentor programs.

Develops and maintains educational tools and resources, integrating adult learning theories, organizational development principles, and system approaches.

Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Nurse Residency Site Coordinator Responsibilities

Maintains program standards, structure, curriculum, policy, and processes in collaboration with the Nurse Residency Supervisor to support resident progression and retention.

Plans, implements, evaluates, and revises program standards, structure, curriculum, policy, and processes for the program.

Facilitates Nurse Residency Program classes as outlined by the Supervisor and Clinical Nurse Educators.

Implements standards for measurable, realistic program outcomes with timelines and accountabilities.

Partners with site leadership to ensure consistent processes and structures, establishing performance expectations and accountability.

Develops and supports site faculty, subject‑matter experts, residents, and local leadership.

Aligns the program with CommonSpirit Health’s mission, nursing vision, values, DEIB, PEX, and professional development.

Conducts ongoing assessments of resident and preceptor knowledge, skills, and practice gaps.

Ensures a consistent, principle‑driven brand for the Nurse Residency Program at the site level.

Communicates acquired knowledge to site leaders and supports program outcomes.

Supports the organizational strategic vision for National Nurse Residency.

Collaborates with system nurse residency leaders to align the program with clinical education, fellowships, and other initiatives.

Champions high‑quality nursing practice and promotes interprofessional collaboration.

Other duties as assigned by leadership.

Job Requirements Clinical Educator Requirements

BSN required; Master’s in Nursing or completion of an MSN program within five years of the start date.

Active RN licensure in North Dakota or a multi‑state compact license.

American Heart Association BLS required upon hire.

Experience in nursing education demonstrating progressive development and implementation of clinical education programs.

Minimum three years of relevant nursing experience.

Nurse Residency Site Coordinator Requirements

BSN required.

Minimum two years of clinical experience in an acute care setting.

Current RN license in North Dakota or a multi‑state compact license.

American Heart Association BLS required upon hire.

Pay Range $34.35 – $49.22 per hour
