Sr. Scientist I Oncology – Oncology Discovery

Job Summary The candidate will join the Lung Disease Area Stronghold Discovery team, developing innovative biologics and small molecules for the treatment of cancer across preclinical drug discovery stages, including target identification, target validation, and preclinical candidate characterization. The successful candidate will have a strong hands‑on background in cancer biology, be highly motivated, and able to work independently in a fast‑paced, results‑oriented environment. Responsibilities include designing, executing, troubleshooting, and interpreting biological experiments, managing multiple projects, communicating results, and collaborating cross‑functionally.
Key Responsibilities
Develop hypotheses, design, conduct, and interpret biological experiments to support preclinical discovery programs.
Work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously under fixed timelines.
Rewrite experiments and analyses as needed based on emerging literature.
Collaborate with cross‑functional team members on projects beyond own scope.
Author technical reports, prepare concise data summaries, and present findings to senior colleagues.
Perform literature searches and data interpretation.
Qualifications
M.S. with 6–8+ years pharmaceutical research experience OR Ph.D. with 2+ years pharmaceutical research experience.
5+ years experience in the cancer biology field.
Highly motivated self‑starter, proactive, and able to excel within a matrix organization.
Proficiency in tissue culture of immortalized cancer cells and primary cells.
Expertise in cell/molecular biology techniques (transfection/infection, Western blotting, multi‑color flow cytometry, proliferation and cytotoxicity assays, ELISA/MSD).
Oncology drug discovery experience in industry highly preferred.
