Effective July 1, 2025, the Personal Leave Program 2025 (PLP 2025) requires each full-time employee in Bargaining Unit 19 and related Excluded, Exempt and Statutory Exempt employees to have their base salary reduced by 3 percent and receive 5 PLP 2025 leave credits monthly through June 2027. Salaries do not reflect these changes. Part-time employees are subject to the same conditions on a prorated basis. This is a limited term position which may be extended or become permanent. Under the general direction of the Sr. Psychologist, Supv/Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker I, the Clinical Counselor (CC) applies counseling interventions and psychotherapeutic techniques within the scope of applicable Business and Professions Code(s) and license to improve an incarcerated individual’s mental health and preventative skills and wellness behaviors. The CC works preventatively with the incarcerated population, including those not in the mental health delivery system, to provide access, outreach, and prevention wellness strategies. Education:
Possession of a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Counseling or Psychotherapy in content and meeting Business and Professional Code 4999.32. Licensure:
Possession of a valid Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor license issued by the California Board of Behavioral Science. Applicants who do not qualify for licensure may be admitted into the examination and may be appointed but must secure a valid license within four years of appointment; however, an individual can be employed only to the extent necessary to be eligible for licensure plus one year. Please note: A Training and Development (T&D) assignment will not be considered at this time. You will find additional information about the job in the Duty Statement.
