Surgery Shift/Schedule:

FT Nights TDA (Two Day Alternative). Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM. Call: Not required. For night shifts that fall on holidays, staff are expected to work unless requested and approved to be off. Preferred experience:

Must have a min. 1 yr. scrub experience. Experience with diverse service lines (e.g., trauma, ortho, neuro, urology, robotics, vascular, ENT). Job Summary:

The Surgical Technologist 2 functions in the inter operative phase of patient care to expedite surgical procedures, under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position assists the surgical team through the use of equipment and instrumentation to ensure that the operating room environment is safe and that required equipment is available and functioning properly. Responsibilities

Discuss any special needs with the surgeon before surgery and scrub into surgery in a timely manner for proper preparation of instruments. Prepare the operative site by aseptically cleaning and patient clipping, as needed. Prepare and maintain the instrument table(s) to ensure instrument availability and accurate counts; identify damaged or incomplete trays and rectify discrepancies to avoid delays or injury. Set up the operating room according to procedure schedules; arrange sterile setup of instrument supplies and equipment; open only needed supplies. Ensure proper functioning of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies during procedures. Perform surgical counts of sponges, sharps, instruments, and misc. items per policies and procedures. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and team; pass sterile supplies, assist with exposure and handling of instruments during procedures. Assist with draping and positioning of the patient. Receive surgical specimens following protocol and verify source; pass to circulating nurse as needed. Assist with placement of surgical dressings post-case. Disassemble instrumentation at end of procedure; recycle and dispose of sharps, fluids, and waste properly. Prepare soiled instrumentation for decontamination; oversee cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, and preparation of instruments and supplies. Clean the operating room after each case and return equipment to storage. Follow infection control policies and regulatory guidelines (AORN, OSHA) to maintain a safe environment. Ensure orientation and knowledge of equipment prior to patient use; maintain inventory and assist with ordering supplies and record-keeping. Qualifications

Education:

Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program. Experience:

Prior OR experience preferred;

Less than 1 year

acceptable depending on program and certification path. Certification/Licensure:

CST certification (NBSTSA or NCCT) or equivalent; BLS certification required or within 30 days of hire/transfer; military/public health service training accepted per policy. Benefits:
