Overview SPEECH-LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST WORKING TITLE Speech-Language Pathologist - Mealtime Support Team SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT Special Education Services (SES) LOCATION Crossroads II, Cary, NC PAY GRADE Speech-Language Pathologist and Audiologist Salary Schedule FLSA STATUS Exempt ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT CONTRACT Yes WORK WEEK SCHEDULE Monday-Friday (occasional evenings and weekends) Position Purpose Evaluates and develops in a team approach, a direct instructional program relating to special education students and their Individual Education Programs (IEPs) with regard to the unique mealtime needs of students, including dysphagia and pediatric feeding disorders. Minimum Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge of the theory, principles, and methods of speech-language pathology; Comprehensive knowledge of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) policy and procedure; Comprehensive knowledge of dysphagia and pediatric feeding disorders; Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel, OneDrive, Power Point; Google Apps; Ability to select, learn, and administer appropriate assessment and treatment activities; Ability to work collaboratively with the Mealtime Support Team to gain experience in evaluating students with feeding and swallowing disorders according to district practices; Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, and build consensus with others, including teachers, other therapists, the community, and parents. Education, Training, And Experience Master's degree obtained in an approved program in Speech-Language Pathology; Three years of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist; Experience assessing and developing treatment plans for people with pediatric dysphagia and pediatric feeding disorders; Experience in developing plans of care and training staff to implement Mealtime Intervention Supports. Certification And License Requirements Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association (ASHA); A license from the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology; Must hold and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator’s license with a good driving record according to the State of NC requirements. Preferred Qualifications Three years of experience as a public-school system Speech Language Pathologist; Experience in interpreting video fluoroscopic swallow study reports, treatment of pediatric dysphagia and pediatric feeding disorders. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Follows all rules, policies, and procedures of WCPSS, along with state and federal regulations, including IDEA. Conducts observations, consultations and evaluations, obtains diagnostic information, analyzes information, and makes recommendations regarding programs and services in collaboration with the team. Develops IEPs for each eligible student in collaboration with the teacher, parent, and other pertinent professionals. Plans therapy and uses appropriate diagnostic tools and therapy techniques to support the curriculum. Maintains records in accordance with established rules, regulations, and ethical standards. Provides consultation to parents, teachers, and other appropriate school personnel; seeks the assistance of teachers, parents, and others to meet the unique mealtime needs of students. Makes recommendations and referrals to outside providers as the needs of the student/and or family require. Participates in continuing education and professional growth activities related to speech-language-hearing and feeding/swallowing disorders. Performs other related duties, as assigned. Work Environment/Physical Requirements This job operates in a professional office environment and has a noise level of mostly low to moderate.
