Lab Supervisor, Core Lab, Full Time, Third Shift
UC Health is hiring a full‑time Lab Supervisor for the core lab department for a third shift at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Under the guidance of the Lab Manager/Lab Director, the Lab Supervisor is responsible for the day‑to‑day supervision of the Technical Associates and Medical Technologists with regards to scheduling, PTO requests, timecards, corrective action and performance review. The Lab Supervisor provides technical expertise supporting specimen receiving, specimen testing, and results reporting in the laboratory and oversees supplies for each department, by setting par levels and orderings. The Lab Supervisor also serves as the primary contact for new hires as they are onboarded into the department.

Qualifications
Associate degree in clinical laboratory science or medical laboratory technology (minimum required).
Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science or medical technology (preferred).
MT (ASCP), MLS (ASCP), or MLT (ASCP) certification.
3–5 years equivalent experience.
Responsibilities
Supervises lab department personnel and workflow.
Ensures timely delivery of all pre‑analytic, analytic, and post‑analytic services by monitoring pending orders (LIS, HIS, pending reports).
Performs duties of TA/Medical Technologist, including processing and specimen testing as workflow dictates.
Serves as primary contact for all new employees to coordinate training in areas of the lab that fit departmental needs.
Creates new‑hire training packet, assigns department‑specific training to employees, and follows up to ensure all training is completed and signed off before the employee works solo.
Ensures proper communication of lab support functions with all lab associates.
Participates in staff departmental meetings, including daily shift huddles.
Conducts lab support meetings in support of the Lab Administration team when indicated.
Assists Lab Director/Manager with performance improvement activities.
Consults with internal and external customers to assess needs and ensure patient safety goals are met, recommending and implementing changes to work processes in coordination with technical staff.
Assists Lab Administration with CAP regulations, including policy/procedure review and compliance, employee safety regulations, and employee file maintenance.
Participates in interviews and provides recommendations for hiring associates.
Conducts ongoing assessment of TA and medical technologist performance.
Assists in annual performance evaluations and corrective action as needed.
Provides management support of the lab department by overseeing PTO requests, scheduling, time/attendance reporting, timecards, and inventory monitoring.
