SUMMARY: Under supervision of the Medical Director and LifePACT Manager or designee following established policies and procedures, performs the role of an EMT, including delivery of patient care, training, equipment and maintenance, and research efforts. Maintains clinical skills, knowledge of literature in the field and outreach, and training objectives. The position shall not supersede the RN or Paramedic role once responsibility for a patient is transferred to the paramedic or RN. Responsibilities
Perform non‑invasive patient care alongside the critical care paramedic during transport in accordance with established standards, protocols and policies under the supervision of the Physician Medical Director or designee.
Provide comprehensive, effective and safe non‑invasive care to any patient transported by LifePACT.
Assist in development of patient care protocols and methods.
Participate in training curricula and research.
Complete patient documentation (written and electronic) per Rhode Island Hospital and the Rhode Island Department of Health: Division of EMS, expediting patient billing.
Maintain positive written and spoken communication while interfacing with employees, patients, families, referring hospitals and the community.
Uphold and adhere to LifePACT policies and procedures.
Uphold safety standards set by Rhode Island Hospital and the Rhode Island Department of Health.
Report to remote location(s) for duty; respond to on‑call emergencies, disasters, and major incidents.
Attend required staff and educational meetings; remain current with literature in relevant program areas.
Perform data entry and clerical assistance.
Assist with Emergency Department communications and dispatch at the communications center and other assigned duties.
Qualifications
High School Degree or equivalent.
Current State of Rhode Island EMT‑B license.
Knowledgeable in use and routine maintenance of all equipment and supplies used by LifePACT Ambulance.
Demonstrated ability to read, speak, write and comprehend English without restriction.
Knowledge of patient care that considers aging processes, human development stages, and cultural patterns.
Current BLS certification (instructor status preferred).
Maintains all required certifications as mandated by the position.
Valid and current driver’s license with a clean driving record.
Emergency Vehicle Operators Course (EVOC) certification within one year of employment.
Maintains clinical skill proficiency and knowledge base within scope of practice, including patient assessment, history, and physical examination.
Prepared for unrestricted travel in ambulances, cars, trucks, boats, airplanes, and helicopters.
Physical Requirements Must be capable of operating in cramped quarters, all weather conditions, and other hazardous environments. Must possess the physical condition that allows running, climbing, carrying medical equipment, and lifting patients, including the ability to stand erect from a squatting position while lifting 175 pounds between two people. Free of motion sickness or history thereof. Visual acuity and color discrimination meeting Rhode Island motor vehicle standards. Adequate hearing to converse in normal tones, hear equipment sounds, alarms, and communications devices.
Experience One year experience in emergency medical care preferred.
Work Environment Variable environment, including in‑ and out‑of‑hospital emergency care situations, disaster situations, exposure to unknown substances and/or risks, ill and injured patients, training environments, and travel in vehicles including ambulances, aircraft, and to conferences.
Pay Range $22.46 – $41.79

Work Type Days, night, weekends, holidays – 12‑hour shifts. Variable shift.
