Overview
Exercise Physiologist - Cardiovascular SVS at MyMichigan Health Apply to join the team in this role with responsibilities across patient assessment, care coordination, documentation, and collaboration with providers and departments. Responsibilities
Under direct supervision of the provider, perform patient assessment and care and maintain appropriate documentation. Coordinate care to assure high quality, compassionate patient care. Maintain and oversee patients at office locations and act as liaison with other organizations and departments. May order medical, pharmacy, and office supplies to manage patient care. Ensure compliance with MyMichigan Health policies and procedures and follow OSHA guidelines, CLIA regulations, and all applicable regulatory agencies. Coordinate with and train new employees, students, and float staff as required. Provide patient education, assist with specialty care modalities, symptom management, be available for emergencies, monitor compliance and outcomes of care management for high-risk patients, educate on prescriptions and side effects, and coordinate continuity of care with other providers. May perform general office duties as needed. Clarify responsibilities with your supervisor as they may vary by practice. Demonstrates competency in necessary computer functions in the office setting (MAPS, MCIR Practice Management, Electronic Medical Records, LIS, Emageon, dictation systems, and other required programs) to assist providers and staff. Maintains patient confidentiality and HIPAA compliance; demonstrates critical thinking for patient management. Day-to-Day Responsibilities (A Day in the Life)
Triages calls, schedules urgent/emergent add-ons, relays test results, supports and refers patients for consults/testing and insurance pre-certification and documentation. Greets patients and/or family, performs routine pre-examination procedures (vital signs, data collection), updates patient records, performs medication reconciliation, manages refills within certification scope. Assists provider with examinations and procedures. Prepares and cleans patient areas, setups equipment, and maintains room setup after procedures; disposes of contaminated supplies and sterilizes instruments. Provides for age-specific needs of the population served, consistent with department standards and policies. Performs other duties as assigned and participates in continuing education as required by MyMichigan Health. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree;
Equivalent Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Physiology or Exercise Science or related field and/or equivalent experience. Certifications and Licenses:
BLS - Basic Life Support (required). Fingerprinting background check (credential: FINGERPRIN) as part of the hiring process. Must meet required equivalent experience within 3 months of hire or transfer. Other Information
Experience, Training, and Skills:
Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with individuals and groups; ability to interact with people at all levels. Mandatory OSHA training annually according to the Exposure Control Plan. Knowledge of medical office policies and procedures, normally acquired through 3–5 years in the health care system or similar setting. Previous experience in a physician clinic setting is preferred.
