This position is an on-site role, and candidates must be able to work on-site at the hospital. Position: Manager of Patient Access
The Manager of Patient Access is responsible for planning, developing, organizing, and managing the Patient Access department and for the performance and effectiveness of these department(s). The Manager will coach and develop all staff performing these functions and implement short and long-term plans to improve customer service and collect quality information. As a subject matter expert, this person provides leadership and contributes to the revenue cycle and organizational goals and is responsible for meeting Ensemble Health Partners’ mission and goals, as well as regulatory compliance requirements. The Manager of Patient Access will work closely with the Director of Patient Access to align processes and procedures with Ensemble Health Partners policies at an assigned facility or market. Job Responsibilities
Directly manage the operations for the admitting, registration, and financial services departments at acute care locations. Admitting staff assign accurate MRNs, complete medical necessity / compliance checks, provide proper patient instructions, collect insurance information, receive and process physician orders, and deliver excellent customer service. Manage Financial Service Representatives and ensure proper accounting processes are followed, cash drawers are balanced, deposits are posted timely and accurately to patient accounts, and proper logs are completed and submitted to Financial oversight departments.
Develops and manages departmental staffing needs. Prepares monthly reports. Establishes departmental goals with staff to optimize performance and meet organizational, customer satisfaction, and financial goals. Coordinates employee work schedules to ensure adequate daily staffing coverage.
Collects, interprets, and communicates performance data using various tools and systems; uses data to drive decisions to achieve performance goals. Collaborates with internal and external customers and ancillary departments to align activities with revenue cycle goals.
Assists in the development of dyad-reporting patient access staff. Provides training, education, goal-setting, and performance interventions as necessary to ensure adequate performance.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Employment Qualifications
Certified Revenue Cycle Representative (CRCR) certification
Certified Healthcare Access Manager (CHAM) certification
Preferred Education
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent Experience in Healthcare Management/Administration
Experience We Love
Minimum 2–3 years of management experience in healthcare
Patient Access experience with managed care/insurance or call center preferred
Experience with Microsoft Office is a must
Ability to balance numerous priorities with strong prioritization skills
Ability to understand and master numerous computer applications and work with IT to meet departmental needs
