Respiratory Therapist, PRN (Flexible – Days or Nights) Join us at Surgery Partners, Inc to provide bedside respiratory care for both in‑house and out‑patient patients as assigned by supervisors based on physician orders.

General Summary Of Duties The registered respiratory therapist provides bedside respiratory care to patients assigned by supervisors and as directed by physician orders for both in‑house and out‑patient care.

Essential Functions

Responsible for the safe and effective administration of medically prescribed medications.

Know and follow indications, contraindications, and policies for therapeutic modalities (IPPS, IS, USN, HHN).

Set up and monitor oxygen administration, including cylinders and safety measures.

Perform bedside pulmonary function tests; may perform PFT lab testing following adequate training.

Perform arterial punctures using radial, brachial, and femoral sites; draw samples for blood gas analysis.

Set up requested hemodynamic lines, calibrate monitors, and troubleshoot problems.

Perform all aspects of artificial airway care; deep blind tracheal suctioning.

Daily and weekly preventative maintenance and calibration of ABG analyzers.

Familiar with oxygen delivery systems (nasal cannula, venturi mask) and devices such as pulse oximeters, respirometers, oxygen blenders.

Set up, safety check, monitor, and troubleshoot mechanical ventilators.

Maintain accurate and legible clinical records in patient charts.

Qualifications

Current BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications.

Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board of Respiratory Care.

Bachelor’s or associate’s degree in a chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science; high school diploma or equivalent may be acceptable for moderate‑complexity blood gas analysis.

Minimum two years of experience in an acute‑care setting.

Physical Demands

Must sit, converse, and listen; use hands and arms to touch, handle, or feel objects; and reach with hands and arms. Vision: close vision and ability to adjust focus.

Capable of lifting and/or carrying over 20 lb on a regular basis and pushing/pulling over 25 lb.

Must stand and/or walk at least five hours per day.
