Position Summary The plant maintenance/mechanic position is responsible for inspecting and diagnosing issues with machinery, performing preventative maintenance and repairs on aggregate plant processing equipment. This includes stationary machinery, conveyor systems, shakers, pumps, gearboxes, and more. As a plant maintenance/welder, duties may include fabrication, welding, cutting, grinding, greasing, housekeeping, and other shop or processing tasks. Operates cranes, man-lifts, hoists, pneumatic and hand tools, cutting torches, welding equipment, and other specialized tools as needed. Parts may be ordered through the maintenance department or outside suppliers.

This is a night shift position, based in Manor, TX.

Essential Responsibilities

Participate actively in plant safety initiatives

Ensure a safe work environment for all personnel

Perform repairs and preventative maintenance to maximize equipment performance

Manage backlog processes in coordination with supervisors and plant managers

Complete necessary paperwork to maintain equipment and comply with company standards

Maintain maintenance trucks and ensure good housekeeping

Prioritize safety, quality, then production

Conduct MSHA pre-shift safety inspections

Check, repair, or replace pumps and other equipment

Ensure preventative maintenance and lubrication services are completed timely

Train and coach other employees on maintenance practices

Education and Experience

1 to 3+ years of experience in heavy-duty maintenance, preferably in the aggregates industry

High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Ability to perform duties safely

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal

Ability to communicate via two-way radio and hand signals

Self-motivated with minimal supervision

Strong mechanical skills

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously

Proficiency with oxy/acetylene torch, stick welding, MIG welding a plus

Ability to identify and order basic parts

Capability to fabricate in steel and perform field layouts

Willingness to wear personal protective equipment as required

Ability to work 8-12+ hour shifts, including weekends, overtime, and holidays

Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain plant equipment

Proficiency with various hand and power tools

Ability to work outdoors and at heights

Physical Requirements

Climb stairs and ladders, reach, stoop, squat, stand/walk for prolonged periods, balance, bend, twist, crawl, kneel, push, and pull

Operate controls with both hands and feet

Perform overhead reaching and lift objects up to 50 lbs, carry for 150 ft

Work at heights up to 100 feet and tolerate outdoor environmental conditions

Visual acuity for depth perception and color recognition

Working Conditions Work involves outdoor assignments in all weather conditions—heat, cold, wet, dry, dusty—and in noisy environments up to 85 dB.
