Plant Operator (Cylinder Loader/Filler)

Job Overview Airgas is hiring a Plant Operator in Ankeny, IA to safely handle and fill gas products into liquid, medical and high‑pressure gas cylinders in compliance with applicable regulations and company SOPs. The loader will also provide cylinder analyses, ensure safe mixtures, operate control panels and equipment, and maintain accurate documentation.
Responsibilities
Safely handle and fill gas products into cylinders according to federal, state, and local regulations and Airgas SOPs.
Ensure safety standards in the loading and unloading of cylinder gases per Airgas procedures.
Perform cylinder analyses and compliance checks with government and company standards.
Calculate gas mixtures to meet requirements and document results; verify safety of mixtures.
Select compatible cylinders and valve combinations for the mix.
Operate control panels containing valves, pressure gauges, and scales to accurately measure gas mixtures.
Complete all necessary documentation to record production actions.
Comply with company procedures and regulations for safe handling of hazardous materials.
Safely operate a forklift, pallet jack, and other warehouse/material‑handling equipment.
Load/unload cylinders on/off pallets, ensuring they are strapped in.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Mechanical aptitude.
Commitment to Airgas safety programs, OSHA, and applicable rules, regulations, and procedures.
A minimum of 1 year of related technical experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience with SAP or a similar ERP system.
Intermediate knowledge of Google Suite or Microsoft Office applications.
Demonstrated arithmetic skills with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent.
