Job Description Responsibilities include troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining plant machinery, support equipment, buildings, and other systems to ensure optimal operation and productivity. The Maintenance Mechanic may also assist with upgrades, improvements, and projects as needed.
Job Details
Schedule: 2-2-3, 12-hour shifts from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am, including alternating weekends and some holidays.
Principal Responsibilities
Perform job assignments via work orders, sketches, PM schedules, blueprints, or verbal instructions, following relevant codes and regulations.
Respond to emergency repair requests.
Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain machinery and equipment including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Install, modify, and relocate machinery, performing fabrication, welding, and other maintenance tasks.
Read and interpret manuals, schematics, blueprints, and drawings.
Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on plant equipment.
Order and secure necessary materials, tools, and supplies.
Use testing and measuring equipment for troubleshooting and repairs.
Maintain records, logs, and system readings.
Repair components such as rolls, shafts, bearings, belts, chains, gearboxes, pumps, valves, and piping systems.
Perform setup and operation of drills, lathes, mills, and grinders.
Fabricate and weld using carbon steel, understanding electrical schematics and blueprints.
Follow environmental, safety, and health rules and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum 5 years of maintenance technician experience.
Knowledge of PLC systems (Allen Bradley), variable frequency drives, servo controls, process control instrumentation, and power distribution.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or associate degree preferred.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics, conduct tests, and apply safety standards.
Forklift certification or ability to obtain it.
Effective communication skills and ability to work independently.
Experience in printing and converting industries is a plus.
Physical and Work Environment
Extended standing, walking, occasional lifting over 55 pounds, crouching, reaching, and use of ladders.
Exposure to noise, chemicals, electricity, hydraulics, and other hazards with proper safety precautions.
Work in a typical industrial environment with exposure to weather, noise, and chemical odors.
